                                       his parents girlfriend  a birthday letter to his brother

and the reason he was writing was because he was trying to shake Infamy v. Fame  how some people will do anything to be famous the quickest route was to lie yet somehow not realise that they were not famous rather infamous 

it seemed to him that it shouldought to occur to them but to professional attention-seekers they must believe bad news was good for themwas better than no news no notice at all
