“Never was there more hollowness at heart than at present”

He had a small clue why
nonsensical questions irritated him
why
they raised his hackles
though he didnt expect they would irritate him to the degree they did
                                                                                                         the weight of his tshirt
across his shoulders back and chest became abject
he stripped it off and flung it carelessly aside

it felt as though it was (it wasnt) hampering him

people walking near him on the sidewalk gave him a sudden wide berth  and looked

they looked
didnt say anything
theyd talk later when they felt they were safe and that they may have felt endangered
humoured him obliquely
he hadnt thrown his tshirt at them
or disparaged them

or maybe it was because they were always in possession of their emotions
cold dead fish
fish  were tough to inspire
dead
they were insurmountable

when his fury and irritation finally waned  he fetched his tshirt and slipped it on again
he stood barechested longer  than a couple who ordered barista-coffee sat at the street
café table retrieved their orders talked held hands
and then sat abysmally distracted after they apparently had to answer their cellphones
when they rang
had stayed

he watched them stand awkwardly
then leave in opposite directions
they infected him and became yet another irritant  something else he couldnt do a damn
thing about
although their abrupt unhappiness temporarily defused the questions banging around
inside his skull
since they occurred to him

if someone hadnt been photographed or was unlikely surveilled in the public sphere  did
their unrecorded reality
minimize their worth or existence
if someone were agitated they were photographed or surveilled in the public sphere  did
they have a right to their anger  their privacy

shouldnt we expect our privacy to be respected  or had the paranoiac tendencies in
society- or culture-at-large erode and negate our rights to move as anonymous people

standing by gnawing it lip raw “the absence of evidence is not evidence of absence”

if someones rights are abraded by a paranoid whole and the public is sold a cheap line
the public  miserable and rife  exposed  to a cult of celebrity (when truly few can be
celebrated)
anxieties exacerbated

is someone unrecognized someone to be feared

Fear is the drug of Our Time
we are addled by it  we are at it like mewling junkies
babes at a womans tit
it is sold by those who turn a livelihood at our expense who have no qualms or
sympathies and sell it by any means possible

                                                                                    they lie  and caught lying
they double-down on their lies
doubling-down is a strategy a ploy they learned trickle-down from other prominent liars
who arent and werent held to account
and doubling-down   they portend how formidable they are
                                                                                                     they are relentless
because so many have relentlessly
accepted their lies
