childs play

hopscotch drawn on a sidewalk with chalk
crowned by a Sky Blue hemisphere
looking phallic

beauty is in the eye of the beholder

it became a singular phallus he could tolerate

and he did

after all he drew it at his granddaughters request
she had it in her fast little mind that she wanted to play hopscotch with him and who the hell was he to deny her a very simple happy pleasure
                                                                                            childs play
in the long run

its all childs play

the children have grown older  wiser
and seemingly
terribly
have outgrown the pleasant effortless of play

oldchildren are shackled by bitter judgment

shackled by appearances and traps codified to maintain a status quomaintain its abject virility and cowness

he tossed his stone marker into the 1 square

--   NO NO
his granddaughter wanted to go first

--   Baby the deal was if I drew the hopscotch Id go first You cant renege on any deal youve made sweetheart

--   But I should go first Im a girl   Im a little girl

--   Ah Then you should have negotiated that when we talked about playing hopscotch
If I drew it we agreed I would go first You could have drawn it and gone first

--   Youre cheating

. . . . . . . . .

he hopped into the 1 square

--  Youre cheating grandpaw Youre a cheat Im telling my Mommie I dont play with cheaters

he look down into the face of his glaring granddaughter

he stood deliberately now  on both his legs

he squatted down so they were facetoface eyetoeye

--   Last chance little girl You wanna reevaluate your words . . . You go into the house and tell your mother IM cheating You lie to her Youre going to be facing bigger trouble than this our disagreement your disagreement here

I suggest you think real hard before you make your next move

quietly -- I want to go first grandpaw

-- Want is not need I understand you want to go first but Im going first as we agreed

tears began to well in her eyes her lower lip began to quiver

-- Not bad You practice that look in a mirror

he picked up his stone
stood up into his full height
stepped outside the 1 square and tossed it in again
hopped in  snatched it up and hopped out again
tossed the marker into the 2 square  hop hop snatch hop hop turn toss hop hop hop snatch hop hop hop toss

then deliberately missed the 4 square -- Nuts

he walked over to his stone picked it up and turned there to take in her demeanor

her lips had relaxed

her eyes were still slippery wet

-- Any decision

quietly  -- I wanted to go first

-- That darling wasnt going to happen Are we playing or are you gonna stand there
pouting Trust me Not a good look on you

she picked up her stone
stood a moment longer before walking up to the edge of the hopscotch and dropped her marker

she missed the 1 square

-- Wow I wouldnt have seen that coming in a million years My turn

he walked down to where she stood -- Pick up your marker please Its my turn again

cripples made better time than her but adamantly  slowly she retrieved her stone

-- I hate when my stone errs you might wanna find a better stone sweetheart Or fix your attitude Because Im playing hopscotch Even if I have to play by myself Take me at my word
Im good at playing by myself But Id rather play with you

he barely missed the 4 square again as was his aim

she laughed -- You missed

-- Dont get too tore up baby you just missed the square at your feet

she didnt miss it on her second try

Evidence was with patience
he was able to tolerate a phallus and petulance at once

its all childs play
