it was their anniversary

                         he knew how to show a girl a good time

they were flying home

    generously she conceded to forego her timelessness  accompany him on his fallible mortal mechanically plane

twice in fact

they boarded a flight at the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport

                                                                           were deplaned

walked a long way to another concourse to another plane

                                                             boarded  its interior was awfully warm

. . . once in route the air condition will kick in . . .

                                                     the captain

they were pushed back on the tarmac

 

disconnected

    and sat

This is fun she whispered Sitting in an airplane going nowhere.

                                                                          Was nowhere our destination?

she blinked innocently

over the PA the captain advised crew and passengers something-or-other had failed and the aircraft was going to be returned to the gate for an air charge  whatever that may be

he felt a gentle nudge when the ground equipment joined with the aircraft

the plane shuddered moving forward

                                         out the window he saw in reverse  déjà vu if one wouldhe did  what he saw ten minutes earlier pushing back

 

    What are you thinking?

Im thinking this isnt what I planned for our anniversary

All in all it’s good to be together again.
