5.6.25

as a child having learned to read quiteearly  his mother taught him  he was fascinated by words  text  illustrations embedded photographs brought him nearly to tears  yet blocks and blocks of print on page also affectedcrowded his senses offended him  made him feel anxious  confined
                                                                                SPACE he wantedneeded space

found poetry turned him on
e e cummings in particularly thrilled and delighted him

although what he really favoured to read most were handwritten letters

he became an avid loyal pen pal

when one fell away he tried to replace them with two

before he was in junior high he began writing letters to his siblings parents aunts uncles
                                                                                              he wrote himself

given his earliest predilection heunlike other boys didnt read comicbooks

when asked why he replied
Why  I have access to Playboy
he shared a bedroom off the back porch with his uncle  the youngest of twelve children
                                                                                             they lived with his grandmother

in addition to naked wholesome women Playboy published wonderful writers
he suffered their blocks and blocks of text on glossy pages

he called it compromise
