                           he set her to dryuntangle herselfher legs on a rock seashell fossils he kept on the bathroom basin counter

            drying himself he watched her go up the wall to her elaborate web in the corner between it and the ceiling

she had looked familiar

             she must have conceded to Life

she didnt try it again

she remained more than a year

                                    he was grateful

that year he was not well

he bathed in hot baths three times a day to keep whatever it was at bay

                                                                              whatever it was finally conceded  dissipated

his body doing what he expected it would do  eventually

    he picked the dead spider up took herhim outside and laid them in the grass at the foot of AWe  name for the wisteria hes raisedcared for from a seed

returning to run a bath he wondered when Again would occur

                                                                   either suicide or death
