Junior  growing up in his neighbourhoodJUNIOR!  several mothers would step out onto their front porchescry JUNIOR! and according to the modality of that particular Junior Junior would break away from the sandlot ball game take his bat or glove Sorry guys I gotta go. never the ball if it was his itd be entrusted to one of the other fellas and run off  a couplethree other Juniors would yell after him Remember! We’re playing tomorrow afternoon!

Summer  school was out  none of the guys forgot 

                                                     they were regulars at the makeshift diamond in the park regular as girls in the neighbourhood whod be on front porches frontyards backyards playing dolls together pushing them in toy buggies on sidewalks pulling them in a wagons with a collection of other dolls assorted stuffed animals

   bucolic

but not Junior

seemed there was one in every family

he wasntdespite being firstborn

                                  had he been a girl and second born were a boy his brother firstborn male usually would be pasted Junior  which wasnt precluded by a II the Second  III the Third  they were still Juniors albeit numerically

he wondered what that was

they had daughters

                     though

had they a son  no way in Hell would the boy have been a junior

his buddies who were went either by nicknames affixed or identified themselves by their middle name if it wasnt some family name like Shirley mothers familys maidens name

his parents named him after a Hollywood actor they liked a lot

his kid brother a year younger was Junior

he ducked a bullet
