whenever he approached her in the kitchen to pick her uplove her up she ducked behind a folded wooden footstool to elude him 

           it was something of a game between them 

if he approached her elsewhere in the house she didnt mind hed pick her up scratch her head shoulders throat put his nose behind her ear inhale her warm cinnamon scent then kissing her there Good girl Thank you hed gently set her down 

        shed prance off

again this morning in the kitchen

   it origins are uncertain  seemingly making its appearance around 1850 

it is suggested it may be related to the word corruption which was once used to describe a sense of anger seemed a stretch or perhaps may have come from canaphus a bit of English dialect that meant ill-tempered corruption  canaphus 

            an canaphus is a corruption of captious which means ill-tempered Merriam-Webster Dictionary describes captious an adjective as a readiness to detect trivial faults or raise objections on trivial grounds 

                                                                                                   he knew several captious people apparently though men an women he called them bitch  if he called them captious hed really get their goat because they werent prone to going to the dictionary to find out for themselves thereby hed only succeed in raising the rancor the ire they shared for him
