even as the eldest child he pulled back  reticent

                                                  he needed to hear his mother ask again to assure himself he heard her correctly   he didnt want a beating  he crossed his parents often so no sense taking a spanking for nothing though theyd say if he was spanked incorrectly itd work out for the times he should have gotten one but didnt

he was pretty fucking sure his accrued interest would carry into adulthood

           I do he raised his hand they were standing in the kitchen around the eight chair wood table he had no idea why he raised his hand like at school desperate to be recognised when he knew the answer  then he learned he could act like he did raise his hand and the teacher wouldnt call his bluff

during parent – teacher conferences his teachers remarked how enthusiastic he was to participate during class time

his sister got the other

his brother a year younger got the spatula

his little brother got the bowl that he kneeled on a chair at the table and went after with his fingers

the whole while he licked the beater tentatively at first he imagined his tongue caught between them as they spun

Freaked him out his tongue laceratedblood flung everywhere or tore out of his head by its roots

wasnt until he had licked one spoke cleansavored the sweet vanilla batter and seeds that the image subsided quit
