well  if that wasnt a pleasant unexpected surprise 

                                                       the nightlight in the bathroom an automatic photocell light which reacts to the lack of light burned against the bright afternoon sunlight coming through the screened window

he adored its audaciousness  its overtover-the-top desire to be recognised

to be fair it had been awhile some considerable time since he last acknowledged it  in kind to Ed Norton (Art Carney) the Honeymooners addressing a golfball “Hello, ball.”  he usually acknowledged his inanimate counterpartshousemates who assisted himprovided him a simpler life

My bad my apologises nightlight  I should have said something earlier  I am sorry

it accepted his apology

it flickered a couple of times

then it went out

he knew better  he shouldnt have been remiss not acknowledged it and the service it provided 

he certainly didnt want it or any of them losing faith in him
