Use your words

one could see the little girl was enraged beyond using words

her mother could see it too but she was adamant and was deaf to anything other than words

evenly she said again
                                      Use your words

tears hung on her daughters long thick eyelashes  they kissed her cheeks

her lips formed a taut straight white line   bloodless

it appeared she was trying to out-adamant her mother

he remembered her mother  his daughter  trying to out-adamant him

his granddaughter was in for a cruel reckoning if she didnt offer words

his daughter  as he had  would send her off to her room to think about how she was acting
And dont dare touch a single toy or book while you sit on your bed thinking about what you want to say   he heard himself echo in his ears from long ago

tho she didnt voice her threat

it was coolly implied

probably a mother-daughter synch-up a father-daughter never-thought to be exercised

his daughter tossed her daughter one last lifesaver(she was a better woman than he)

Theres a theory sweetheart(it was unsettling that a three year knew what theory was)  that if we dont have the right words in our vocabulary(she got it!)  we cant even see things that are right in front of our faces

Can you image

And if we cant describe our reality accurately(bingo! nothing there his granddaughter didnt understand)  reveal ourselves precisely honey  then we cant see it

Not the other way around

unconsciously his jaw unhinged  swung open

he watched his stubborn granddaughter get up off the livingroom floor where she sat(her mothers doppelganger)
and walk into the hallway that lead back to her bedroom

Some theory

Im sure theres a commiserate linguistic theory  I havent had the time to dive into it tho  Im just relating to my hardheaded daughter a parcel from the book Im reading called The Water Knife

Ive been unable to shake its premise so Im inspired to make it hers too

Toss a exclamation point on it
You know where I got that

I do     I do
Words are valuable instruments

Yup  And no time like the present
