puppets 

humouring unseen hands

that disappear beyond the wrists into dimensions a human being has no comprehension of

or concept for

any more than an ant might comprehend a human being

 

or something less

then

          what then

he looked into her eyes and realeyesed her fear  afraid to open his mouth for a croak or something mawkish or aberrant to come out 

she witnessed something he couldnt see and to say anything except the perfect thing would minimize her experience

without words
                        he held her

as a parent would hold their babe wakened by a nightfright

without the tongue to convey that they would be alright

that they were there

                                  and understood without understanding
