though probably because she was a singer and he preferred jazz

he dug the voices of the instruments and they didnt have to have words affixed to them

to her  the music was an accompaniment to the lyrics

he questioned her if the lyrics were the chicken and the music  its egg 

she wasnt a musician

she said she didnt know

though likely the pair shifted around  being the hen  then the egg

plausible 

what wasnt plausible however

was when  on rare occasion  he opened his mouth  and sang lyrics

typically  he mutilated them

and she was uber-quick to point out he wasnt singing the correct words
