When they forced his hand

he Demanded

no longer Asked

for answers to his questions 

he Quit  the deferred gray declarative Yes or No syllables

                                                                                                  of course they barked No

if they agreed with him he wouldnt be assailing them

                                                                 

and Challenging them

they Demoned him 

demonized him for troubling them for explicit explanations

 

they were the Experts

and apparently Experts arent Experts if they have to answer a laypersons questions

or

a layperson holds sway to question their learned opinions

This                                                                                                                                                 despite him fiercely reminding them

he was no ones idiot

and he was also a purseholder who could withhold their Expert fees

they were beholding

as Experts

to reply demonstrably   per requisite  any question he preferred or insisted of them

in its finest detail

crafted by artisan hands

 

he sent two packing

filing suits at their retreating backs

which werent hard to distinguish

at any distance

for the bright yellow streaks running down their spines

shake it out of my eyes

or rub it out

it will have to go of its own accord

they all looked alike

                                      they looked unhealthy

an heedless

helpless

they looked unhappy 

as if the ground on which they stood

had soured

                                                             

their expressions

as if there was something foul in their mouths

and they couldnt spit

                  

                                    coloured awnings   and fire pails   clung to sides of buildings

that stepped up

steppe-ing up and up    

                                    steeped  

bank on bank   shelves of balconies     sheaves of blueglass shimmering

                                                                      and uninspired drapes                                    

no longer drawn to hide anything

arteries  darkened and cloisonné

by blood poisoning 

                                                                                                                       

hewed   black alleys and avenues

                                                               nightmares   unwakened from
