On occasions Grampa would make me a Cincinnati . at home mind you, not at the tavern.

. . . not at the tavern reeled in his ear how times have changed  a boy sipping a cold root beer in a tavern beside his father 
     but for that matter he remembered picking up cartons of cigarettes for his father at the Clark station on Touhy owner knew his dadknew him a simple transaction same asif he was buying a fivecent candy bar

That’s what it was called in the neighborhood, I couldn’t say for elsewhere.

Grandpa poured halfglass of lager the reminder with Dad’s root beer, it was brewed not three blocks from the house, had a root beer garden too.

later that evening he sat down to watch Madigan  1968   Richard Widmark Henry Fonda Inger Stevens Inger Stevens had to mention her twiceSwedish bombshell   Inger Stevens

in a scene Widmarks character Madigan a New York detective enters a bar on a tip that a criminal hes pursuing is there 
       he came up behind the man  he was sitting in a booth crossing in front of him Madigan sees he isnt who hes after
     Whaddaya looking at? the man asked

Thought you were somebody I knew from Cincinnati.

belligerent drunk the man goes to stand up saying Nobody tells me I look like I’m from Cincinnati . .  

Madigan shoved him back down into the booth  Be quiet and drink your milk. 

   something else
                  hadnt thought of Cincinnati in forever and thenBAM  hears it twice in a day
