Bobby was a good boyhood friend

when he learned that Bobbys cancer surgery was a bust Bobby was 39 he sought to remember times they spent together unfortunately in his upset he came away with a sense of those times but not particularly memories 

which spoke of his sense of upset 

later he remembered Bobbys arc then eventual favour when he slipped his fetters and dove headlong into the American antiwar counterculture which encouraged him with a rational State exorcism and gobs of Sex

the war in Vietnam was beneficial to American corporations they didnt care that another countrys weak or unlucky were destroyed

underground newspapers fought hand to hand combat with straight established rags and beckoned young men to resist the draft resist the patriotism that sought to commodify them Hey GI hey government-issue

 

he may have held the tether of his realised consciousness between his thumb and forefinger longer than his contemporaries or could read tossed bones that they ignored or picked at 

                                                                             or didnt think to split with their canines for hidden marrow or understood grit

he kept to his druthers with muscular intensity and refused to have his broth diluted 

oftimes then he sought Bobby out his infant-polio classified him 4-F Bobby hadnt sought 4-F like otherspaid for it like others he rather otherwiseto be otherwise but he bravely unfortunately accepted it wasnt to be 

                                                                                                 seeking Bobby he held out his tether to him Bobby snatched it with a Death grip Man, how can you be so casual? Im not being casual I trust you 

    he let go Bobby clutched it and stiffened Relax man You got it

no matter how strange the wind blewwhipping him tugging at him trying to tear him to pieces to shreds Bobby held on dug in his heels 

                  rather one heel  his left leg wasnt good

when he arrived in Chicago and took a cab directly to the hospital Bobby laid in bed holding a helium balloon Red, you like red best, yeah? Right Bobby he handed him its tether Now its your turn. I trust you 

he didnt let go
