hardboiled eggs

                        Easter had come and gone  he dutifully played Jesus Christ Superstar vinyl had stewed fruit fresh smoked Polish sausage ham

                                     but

no coloured hardboiled eggs

missed the boat

hed been invited to a family brunch

                                     not his  they were eighteenhunred miles away

after eating the children raced around finding plastic coloured eggs filled with coins occasionally paper currency and sweets

no hardboiled eggs

he missed them

Monday he bought a dozen Jumbo eggs

boiled half

later ate the other half raw

six were sufficient to please what he missed

evidently he wasnt greedy

                               he wonders how that happened
