he was intrigued
although he never ever allowed anything more than intriguewhich might sound like he doth protest too much   he didnt  his demarcationhis lines his crisp borders throughout his life were always  precisely   that

they were why Dirty Harry Harry Callahans line A mans got to know his limitations bristled him

No argument there

A man does

Less-than-a-man doesnt
(silent monologue)
he sorely missed men who understood thatwho werent gaming their perception of systems they wanted and hoped to exploit

when he caught a whiff of that he didnt hesitate a moment  Adios moomoochachuwhich always riled his partner  shed plea Stop stopstop stop  Please   he didnt do it oftenjust often enough so he didnt forget  he never learned to speak a foreign language and when you hang slang on a language you dont speak you have to return to it so it doesnt evaporate disintegrate  vanish before your fucking eyesHell  as it was  things that werent there appeared before his eyes  they piqued him   then he was off and running  chasing it down wearing it out until it pulled up creamed with sweat tongue hanging out lolling against the side of its jaw

It thought hed give up   thats why it broke outsprinted out of the gate burning up valuable energy  ran madly and contorted its spine looking over its shoulder and recognising he was stalking it ably

a caramel coloured girl

a teenager

she reminded him of a Greek girl he dated in Chicago  she had smooth flawless brown skin

same jet black hair

although this girls hair was softened weathered by the sun

upturned breasts clothed in a softgreen sleeveless casual tank that complimented her eyes  over short cutoff bluejeans and sandals
her fingernails and toenails were painted ivory

they reminded him of feline claws

a sprite woodland cat

she paid the grocery clerk for her purchase

she gathered up her bottled water her small netted bag of fruit thanked the clerk  and left

he didnt watch her go
