she hated the acclaim Its writ in stone

apparently when it regarded her all sorts of people found permeable lackluster stone

she wouldnt use their stone for a gravemarker

unless their intent at the get-go was to renege expose the worthlessness of the being they buried

the hell with that  it didnt reason to her to go through the labour of burying them in the first place  unless   to soothe a crowdsoothe those who doled out anted-up cash to bury them  wha  for appearances sake   for fraud immanence

Aw man  it only gotta look good for a shorts while (that was a defence)

you couldnt pull that on older generationsthose who tended their loved ones graves who visited on birthdays and anniversaries Holy days and holidays visited when they-had-nothing-better-to-do-than-talk-things-out-before-a-trusted-family-member-or-friend

nobody haunts graveyards and cemeteries like they once did

she remembered picnicking at the foot of her grandparents

she had no intention of haunting one when she died

Blow me she commended  Drop my ashes on the ground and stay upwind so I dont get in your eyes in your mouth and nose

I wanna feel the sunlight and wind penetrate me  Or rather know I will because I wont  feel it

Life buried me

Why would I want to be buried in death

Its writ in stone

she didnt trust itshed rather not hear it

she didnt say so  itd be impolite  she was taught to try not to be impolite  she rolled his eyes  she didnt say Dont blow smoke up my ass

writ in stone  smoke up her ass    same thing though smoke up her ass at least had a sensual premisedont be a prudeand if you cant help yourself then get the hell away

shed never say it

if she said somethingthat shed do something  that was it  it was her Word  she didnt vow

her rock didnt take kindly to carving

she resented it when somebody thought they could

there was a laissez-faire to the day

the local districts were self-congratulating

graduating junior high and high school students who didnt deserve their commencement or diplomas

it was June midafternoon Central Coast California hot

he ran ceiling fans inside the house because he disliked air-conditioning

it was 92degrees inside

in the sun outside he was real happy he woke early and soaked his outdoor plants that couldnt duck for the cover of shade and had to withstand the sun for the benefit of other beings

his feral cats werent hungry or present  they found some place with cool earth to lay their bellys on

he sweat as he wrote standing at the porch railing

a slight breeze trembled the beads of sweat that run out from his underarms off his temples the hairline at his neck and down his back

his cold bottle of beer commiserated and sweat too

the Eighth grade graduated every student there was

thirty-eight percent couldnt read at their grade-level

and of that thirty-eight percent only twenty-two percent would be able to attend remedial help at the high school

talk about setting the table

but then it was a rural districtit was stout Republican ranchers and farmers fourth and fifth generation Californian

they were are thick as Mormonsand many many were

their wealth was quietly conspicuous

you had to let the hints add upit was simple arithmetic

one plus one plus one equals

but the one-ups didnt stop accumulating

and they knew who they were and who you werent

it was fascinating

there was no requirement for free-thinking

the free-thinkers would succeed and leave

what remained took orders well

Man  it was nelly hot as hell

they furthur stated they were unaware and unconsciously had   if they did
