she outstripped him with her moniker

beat him with a beautiful smile

while professing her inner child
Mad Soul Child(otherwise known as Choi Jin-sil)

he was content(or so he thought) with his copycatted manchild  Rousseaus  happily took direction from his nature and was unconcerned whether it fit the society he was born into

Patience is bitter but its fruit is sweet

while not an astonishing or noble Rousseauian quote it served his demeanor long before he learned of its existence

Mad Soul Child might possibly be a thing of fable

though her blatant genius enraptured him

unfortunately it didnt hold
it peeled like snakeskin as he learned of her life  its emergent suspicious and sorted and terrible facts

he didnt find Jin-sil until after her death

he found one of her songs on the soundtrack to The Man from Nowhere
he was ever a sucker for revenge films and decidedly had proclivity for foreign films

American cinema seemed as its doped culture and audience mired in sequels of tried-and-true seeds CG effects and splashy violent comicbook flicks   pure fantasy

as he saw it the Fantasy vs Realism was spurred by a Generation and more of 24/7 Reality television vs straightforward Reality(never the twain shall meet)

it wasnt to say he didnt enjoy a dose of fantasy  however he dosed intermittently to an endgame of keeping it fresh and vital

dessert was never meant a main course
and what sufficed and entertained disguised the reality turning in the atmosphere around and about everyone

he couldnt put his finger on when the disconnect occurred when the fraying turned into a unforgiving run

It is too difficult to think nobly when one thinks only of earning a living(and paying the bills) -- also Rousseau

if to assign blame he would blame it on being possessed by Living
though he took satisfaction he often rested his finger on its pulse and was aware more often than not of the things that cajoled him

he simply didnt have the time to commit and thereby act against them

Mad Soul Child

fable

Choi Jin-sil committed suicide 2 October 2008

she hung herself in her home with a rope made of medical bandages(committed)

Jin-sil was dubbed “the Nations” South Koreas actress and following her death more than seven hundred people committed suicide

many were believed heartbroken by her death and sympathetic they succumb

while authorities tried to debunk the spike in suicides the radical statistic remains and is otherwise unexplained

the more he read of Jin-sils life he realised two things
she was either part of a deeply flawed and tragic family(he was not prone to coincidence) or perhaps South Koreans have a mythology of their own and it rivals an American myth

what if their deaths at 39 years old were comparative to those revered deaths at 27 years old that Americans perceive as mythic

our Hendrix  Morrison  Joplin   though their deaths were presumed accidental overdoses

Jin-sil committed suicide in 2008 at 39

at 39 her brother Choi Jin-young committed suicide in 2010 as did her ex-husband Jo Seong-min in 2013

they all took their lives by hanging

preceding Jin-sils death in 2008 was another prominent suicide by actor Ahn Jae-hwan

he died by carbon monoxide poisoning caused by charcoal briquettes(a real thing*) in his car(straight out of a J G Ballard story of urban dystopia and death)

Jin-sil was accused of pressuring Ahn Jae-hwan to repay her a two million dollar loan and overwhelmingly the attack was levied via social media who determined she acted as an unscrupulous loan shark(can you say Book of Faces)

oh well  sometimes a simple curiosity can lead one to standing in shit up to their knees

nevertheless
             fable   cautionary tale
Mad Soul Child was inspiring
and despite what he learned hed put it up against what he believed for a very long time

ones life is their sole possession

it is theirs to do with exactly as they want barring anyone elses belief or commentary and braying like an ass would fall deaf on his ears

his hands felt like clay
no fine manipulations

they hadnt felt like that since he was a boy uncoordinated using fat pencils as he learned to print in Elementary school

the broken glass in his wrists
not since he punched redhead Timothy(never Tim) Gardner in the face and broke his wrist

Timothy was a fat kid a bully a couple of years older than him when he stepped in for his friend Bobby who was afflicted at birth with polio and who wasnt a threat to anyone  Ever  a sitting duck for his visible infirmities

he broke Timothys jaw

his utterly absent parents  Timothy was the youngest of four clods  threatened to sue

but when several teachers who were on the playground late to breaking them up slower than he reacting to Timothys provocation  when they attested to what they saw and Bobbys torn shirt his pants ripped at the knees his knees bloodied by the graveled blacktop
their silence was cinched

he wasnt a masochist

although he loved contact sports

a small boy the bigger kids made a point of punishing him but marveled they couldnt make him give up and that he excelled(running for his life)

maybe he was

but when he healed from this transgression this sorted inflammation he had a sneaking suspicion he was going to miss the glass-pain

it was a strange thought to confess

he was a thoughtful boy

he had ample time to be thoughtful all the time he convalesced from broken bones and other batteries

his parents pleaded Look before you leap

he retaliated he never had time to consider leaping or not

his leaps were demanded

not leaping meant someone else often lesser than he were going to pay the price through no fault of their own

things then turned on the avarice of bigger kids who fervently felt their due and were going to get away scot-free with their shit

he was there to make sure they wouldnt

he exposed at the cost of their brazen attacks someone who dared to stand up to them and they inadvertently fixed and became symbols to him of authority who thought nothing of using their perceived power to make others cower

for every action there was a reaction

chemistry taught him that

physics taught him that

and despite never being very good at either class he did inculcate their lesson

his family doctor urged him that he was smarter than that(where his parents “failed”) but reconsidered when he told him I only did what was right Youre not trying to tell me Im wrong

No  Just  his doctor said

Just more broken bones and wounds he asked

No  Just
under his breath his doctor muttered Altruistic

it didnt sound like his doctor had any medicine to give him to cure it
