the sun was setting

it was their time the time they would pull off to the side of the road the time if even they werent together they would stop what they were doing and commune knowing the other at their bitter best would also be watching   willfully sharing

sunset was one of many bonds

the sky began to purple and soon untold uncounted celestial marvels would wind their way into their eyes stirring their lusty imaginations  it liquored their tongues and exposed them to memories escaping deep recesses and not thought of in a long long time

long  deep  draughts  of  memories
                                I remember . . .  I remember . . .   voices tender like a childs

before they knew each other they suspended what they were doing and almost always by themselves they stood unobstructed gaining that place if they had to to watch the staring or valanced sun melt out of the sky

they knew in their belly instinctively they shouldnt couldnt miss the sunset

she said it beckoned her he said it was like catching an attractive woman undressing before an open window

in conversation when they did meet they startled each other admitting that they believed they were the only person who watched the sun quit the day  everyone else seemed either impervious to it or suspicious when they shared their need perhaps obsession to watch it

some people were angered when they would abruptly excuse themselves and go to a window or step out of doors some accused(they thought accused harsh) them of disrupting moments skewing conversations because they were either distracted by what time it was(the time the sun set they knew) or didnt find what was being said particularly(passive-aggressive) interesting  they were rudely not paying attention

they tried to allay those concerns but it grew tedious and old

they stopped and allowed that Excuse me would have to suffice

there was really no explaining

when they met they understood

the sun set for them

and they laughed gayly

Black Lives Matter

he was white
he got it

he even got it when opponent political contortionists tried their best to twist Black Lives intentions

their every slur he blackwashed blackwashed their words and writings posing a single fact and challenge

When you endure three hundred and fifty years of disrespect prejudice and lawless attack then you have the right and the experience to debunk Black Lives grievances

Until then  Shut your miserable piehole

did he have a right to despise these white people simply by also being whiteYes

their words discredited him

he had pedigree

he had bloodline

but he also had a brain

Flip it  Yawanna contend with what black people have had to contend with  Suffer

No

No  Then you cant support it Yare no better than they

Common sense

Even a eugenic idiot doesnt like getting beat on over and over and over

he was raised in Chicago  Americas Racist Mecca

but also the home of the Blues emanating from Maxwell Street birthed during the Great Migration

his grandfather was a belligerent racist  a veteran of World War I and the Chicago Race Riot of 1919 which was kicked off by a young black teenager Eugene Williams stoned to death at a segregated Lake Michigan beach between 25th and 29th streets

his grandfather had skills

his father was too  but he wasnt aggressive like his old man

his father grew up in Humboldt Park

he often talked of drifting over to Bucktown Damen and Armitage but inevitably evaded saying what attracted him

his mother(not racist  though that wasnt to say she didnt have some hardline ignorance) grew up in Logan Square

he was born and raised on Western within sight of Riverview Park near the Chicago River

later they moved into his grandmothers wood two-flat in Norwood Park

hell  a Polack prejudiced by other ethnic whites  he had an elder cousin who served as a priest at Five Holy Martyrs

Yeshe did have a right to knock white people who spewed racist sentiments
even though they refused to admit them
because they thought they were so fuckin clever
